Volcanic Crisis Information
The activity of the volcano in Iceland has decreased. Currently, less ash is produced thus conditions for air traffic get better. German airspace will remain partly open.

As long as the current weather conditions remain, Lufthansa Cargo (as well as Lufthansa Passenger Airlines) can apply with local aviation authorities for rights to conduct flights on VFR (Visual Flight Rules) mode during daylight. We are doing our utmost to conduct as many flights as possible.

Lufthansa Passenger Airline is operating at almost complete intercont schedule. Belly capacity can be fully used for cargo - but on routes to and from North America, capacity is reduced by 3-4 tons due to additional fuel need.

Handling at FRA / Backlog / New Bookings
In our main hub at Frankfurt airport, ground operations are being fully staffed for optimal operations.

Road Feeder Services to Frankfurt coming from European origins will be handled. Road Feeder Services transferring cargo from our Leipzig hub will partially operate directly to their destinations instead of transfer via FRA.
De-Feeding services from Frankfurt to Europe will run as needed for inbound freight.

Freight for existing bookings shall be delivered on time.
